ABSTRACT
Understanding of acid-base and electrolyte imbalance is an important knowledge for neurologists since these entities are closely associated with life-threatening events in clinical practice. I’d like to address representative case of acid-base and electrolyte imbalance in the neurology field. To correct acid-base and electrolyte imbalance effectively, neurologists should have know how to interpret arterial blood gas analysis, and, correction methods and choice of fluid of electrolyte imbalance. Neurologists should also understand the risk factors of hyperkalemia, changes of electrocardiogram and emergency treatment of hyperkalemia.
